I’m currently working on this painting of the delightful, Sophia (aged 12).  She combines features of her Japanese mother and her Caucasian father which demographers have stated will be an increasingly common progression in how Australian’s will look in the future.  With this in mind I have her holding a nosegay of Australian native flowers.  The intention of the painting is to reflect on an age which is both fragile and innocent by depicting the sitter in the lower left hand corner of a large canvas.  The empty space symbolising the uncertain yet exciting future ahead of her.
